Society of St. Bartimaeus (SSB)
OUR MISSION
The Society of St. Bartimaeus, (SSB) Inc. is a 501(C) 3 non-profit charity organized to raise funds to help establish support systems for the underserved elderly and severely disabled in Nigeria who live in extreme poverty. Established in 2020, the SSB recognizes the dignity of each human being no matter where they live, how old they are, how they look or function or their economic level. Our primary objective is to build, open and support a residential community that provides clean water, housing and quality care for these marginalized people.
OUR VISION
In Nigeria, the impoverished blind feel abandoned without access to their basic needs. There are no public assistance programs or services established to help them. Many of the poor and frail elderly have no family or friends to care for them and are left to bear their pains alone leaving this life hungry, lonely and desperate. Our Vision: We envision a community based support system that will assist the residents to prosper and learn to sustain and support themselves. Christ calls us to take care of the poor and be His eyes, ears, hands and feet. Matthew 25: 44-45 “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
